Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month

Women’s History Month celebrates the contributions of women to events in history and in society today.

Women of UD:  Commitment to the Whole Person

During Women’s History Month, the Women’s Center coordinates, as an experiential learning opportunity for students, the annual Women of UD exhibit, highlighting the contributions women have made at the University of Dayton. The 2024 theme, Commitment to the Whole Person, is a call to action to recognize women who have role modeled ways to show up fully and/or support those in their networks to do the same. Honorees have taken a holistic approach to their own lives and to the lives of others. Women who role modeled this holistic approach in practice by naming the challenges of showing up fully as well as finding room to be flexible with the highs and lows of life, for themselves and others. Women who relinquish the need to be seen as “having it all” when in reality that may mean sacrificing aspects of life. Women who represent these qualities by guaranteeing that others (peers, colleagues, classmates, alumna, etc.) have space to express themselves fully. Every woman on campus should be able to show up fully and this year’s call to action is a way to begin the conversation and applaud those who lead by example and make space for others to do the same.
